Chine - Huang Shan

More scenic views from Huang Shan

I’m woken up by at 4 am by my dear fellows in the dormitory. (Chinese don’t mind if you’re sleeping. They start talking as in the middle of the day and switch on the lights without bothering at all. Since I’m not in my country, I don’t kick their…)
Before the bathroom gets a mess with the other 5 guys, I get up and take a shower and have breakfast: tea offered by the hotel and biscuits I brought. Around 5 all are gone and I wait until 5h15 to meet Anne at the entrance at the hotel to go to a summit and see the sunrise. During the wait, I’m delighted watching some south American football on TV, with Chinese comments.
We rush to one of the summits, the daylight is already there! On our way up, I hear people shouting of … happiness (?). I think we just missed it! Once in the top, as I suspected, the sun was already up. The only advantage is that the very last tourist leaves and I have all the place for myself (I lost Anne somewhere behind). The legendary “bark at the moon” auto portrait takes place! I really have fun doing this!
What follows this is just better and better. Astonishing cliffs, precipices and peaks, all mixed with fog and clear blue sky. The view was fantastic!
Anne and me go down together until the start of the ascension to the “heaven Peak”. Anne prefers to go down to the peak and we split. I think that the summit of this peak was the highlight of the day (with the “bark at the moon” session); not only because of the wonderful view from up there but also because of the quiet and calm of the place. No tourists or guides with megaphones.
After this, I go down for the next 3 hours, my knees do feel it. I have lunch in town (it was hard to find one with an English menu), get my backpack from the hotel and take the bus from Tangkou to Huang Shan city (Tunxi, 15 Yuan). I take my train to Nangchan at 21h35.
The train is almost full but is not as “luxurious” as the one I took in Shanghai. I presume between small cities (Huang Shan 1.5 mill., Nangchang 4 mill.), the quality decreases.
