WOW Sydney!!!

Check out at 10h. I don’t feel like carrying my backpack around the city trying to find a cheaper accommodation. The girl at the reception (a Spaniard), proposes me “the church”, a 28 beds dorm for 23 AU$/night. I wonder how this dorm looks like. It’s a huge big room with twins along the walls. I didn’t count them but they seem to be a lot. And all full!
Once the accommodation problem solved, I start my exploring day heading to Kings Cross, apparently a place packed with hostels in every corner of the streets with a bunch of free beers, food and internet access.
Sydney is the perfect combination of comfort of European cities and weather of tropical countries. Comparing with other places I’ve been so far, it’s hard a local and who’s a tourist. Most of backpackers met here are rather young, between 18 and 25 years old, looking for a job to stay in the country for the next 6 to 12 months.
Finally I get into Kings Cross. It’s the equivalent to the Rue de Berne in Geneva, i.e. where the prostitutes, drug sellers and “social cases” gather. You add to this night clubs, cabarets, travel agencies, kebab and fast food stands and hostels ready to host 1000 of backpackers with boiling hormones, you obtain an explosive mixture... 7 days a week! I finally find d-lux hostel (1800236213), three nights for 60 AU$, this will be the cheapest available in a 10 shared dorm.
This afternoon, having lunch in the common area in the hostel, I’m surprised by a charming lady offering me a wristband for a place called “The Gaff”, free beers from 21 to 22... mmm
My second night in this city and I’m in a amazingly crowded bar, it looks like all the backpackers of the city are here!! The atmosphere is great. A bell sounds announcing the end of the free beer hour... I cannot drink more anyway, 4 of them and I feel already “satisfied”.
