Finally the so expected experience, board+waves+Fredy all together!!! I wonder how I never did it in Peru, having so wonderful beaches?
We simulate the movements at the main Beach in Noosa, a long time, so they get stuck into our brains. In front of us, appealing waves waiting to be ridden. Behind us, bushes and some guys trying to get some lessons for free. The sequence of our exercises go are paddling, hands besides the rips, in one jump put front foot in the middle of the board and the other back, and I’m riding a wave!!!... in theory. We don’t consider the chances to flip over... it is exactly what happens to me the first 2 attempts, but the third is the good one. It’s to short to enjoy it, I try again and again until my technic is almost perfect... according to me... no! I don’t want to see any picture, my faith is enough!
The tiring thing is bringing the board back to the waves spot. Once thinking that I’m ready to serious scenarios, I go too far and one of the waves catches me just before breaking! That was enough to keep me away the rest of the lesson. Luckily no part of my body was hit by the board, but it was close... uuuhhh. Total control: about 5 seconds on the board and I jump of it before it throws me away.
The same day in the morning, less spectacular though, Noami and Steffi (Holland and Germany) and I have a gentle walk through a National Park besides the village. Finally I see my first Koala!! It was hard to miss it, having a line of 10 people staring the same tree. It was tiny and almost static. He stretches once, that’s all the action we get.
Once more, the walk along the coast is great and I feel already in the surf influence. I observe the guys technic. The nature around, reminds me Cape Tribulation. Obvious, once you’ve seen a rainforest, you’ve seen them all. It’s still impressing though watching all this vegetation, with its overwhelming buzzing noise coming from everywhere. |
